W.V. Summer Classic Update
With just a few days remaining before we welcome everyone to Winfield for the West Virginia Summer Classic, we wanted to share some helpful information to ensure a smooth experience.
Show Address: 5449 WV-34, Winfield, WV 25213. The entrance to the show grounds is on the left, directly across from Keith’s Kitchens. While there is no sign for the Winfield Riding Club, you’ll easily spot the red barns from WV-34.
Arenas: Both the warm-up and show arenas are covered; however, please note that the walk from the barn area to the arenas is not.
Stalls & Campsites: Stalls and campsites will be available starting Thursday for those staying on the grounds. If you plan to arrive earlier, please contact Carla Parsons to see if arrangements can be made. Stall assignments will be sent via text or message next week and posted on the Show Office window. Please be aware another show is scheduled for the previous weekend, and it will take 2-3 days to prepare the grounds. Do not plan to arrive before Thursday unless you have communicated with Carla Parsons.
Horse Trailer Parking: When parking or dropping your horse trailer after unloading, please ensure you avoid dropping trailers near the campsite's electric poles unless you have a reserved site. There is ample space available for trailer parking away from the electric and water hookups designated for campers, so we kindly ask everyone to keep these areas clear for those staying at the campsites.
Map of Show Grounds: A layout of the grounds can be found at the link to the right of this article.
Food: The onsite restaurant offers delicious home-cooked meals and sandwiches, opening for breakfast and closing around 11 PM.
Class Program: The final class schedule is available at APPWRHA.ORG and on the West Virginia Summer Classic Facebook Page.
Youth Judging Competition: New this year, AWRHA is sponsoring a Youth Judging Competition for participants age 10 & over on both nights. Please sign up in the Show Office. Pre-selected classes are listed on the flyer available on the website and Facebook page.
TWHBEA Pick Your Partner Pleasure Walking Class #64A: Also new this year, participants pick their partner to raise donations online for the Legal Fund. Two sets of awards will be given: one based on the amount of donations raised and the other on judges’ cards. Your team will need to register with TWHBEA online to be assigned a QR Code that will be used for the online donations. More information regarding the sign-up process for donations will be released soon.
Online Entries: Enter online at entermywalkinghorse.com. Online entries close at 6 PM on Thursday, June 18th. Unfortunately, Wi-Fi limitations prevent online entries during the show days.
Show Office: The Show/Entry Office opens Friday at 3 PM and Saturday at 4 PM. Entry forms and show programs will be available outside the office door.
Class Holds: If you need a “HOLD” for a class, please notify the Show Office. With many classes each night, we aim to keep the show moving. The Show Manager will work closely with the DQPs to prevent missed classes due to inspection delays and accommodate “HOLD” requests within a reasonable timeframe. Extended holds will be at the discretion of the Judge(s) and/or Show Manager.
Forecast: Expect warmer temperatures in the low to mid-80s. Please pack appropriately and bring a rain jacket in case of a sudden storm.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Carla Parsons, Kendra White, or Sherry Bryant at the phone numbers listed below.
We greatly appreciate your willingness to travel and participate in Wild, Wonderful West Virginia. Whether this is your first visit or you’re a returning exhibitor, we hope you enjoy our beautiful state and the show we have planned.
